Our return visit to Puerto Rico with Kaiser Family Foundation 6 months after Hurricanes Irma & Maria.

A visit to Puerto Rico with PerryUndem & Kaiser Family Foundation 2 months after Maria to document the effect of Hurricanes Irma & Maria.

The Lives and Voices of Black America on Politics, Race, and Policy: PerryUndem conducted a comprehensive survey among n = 1,003 Black adults July 18 - August 7, 2017. This is the first survey of its kind since the 2016 election and covers the intersections of politics, race, and public policy – from the perspective of Black America.

The first time I went to a Pow Wow. A wonderful place to photograph all of the dancing and colorful outfits. I was surprised to discover my black and white photos felt like the best way to capture the event. This is slideshow of black and white photos from the day along with some drumming I recorded that day.

On Friday, January 27, 2017, Donald Trump signed an executive order closing the nation's borders to refugees and citizens of 7 predominantly Muslim countries: Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Sudan, Yemen, and Somalia. This is from a rally for refugees at Reagan National Airport on Wednesday, February 1. Jeffrey Moy with the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) was one of the speakers that evening. I wanted to put together something more than photographs of the event so I briefly interviewed Jeffrey that evening & learned about his grandmother's imprisonment at a concentration camp in Heart Mountain, Wyoming.

A little opener for the DC Rollergirls.

Every once in awhile a lot of snow falls in DC and the normal frantic pace of the city seems to get buried under the snow. Sometimes the federal government shuts down and It always reminds me of childhood and that same feeling of hoping that school might be cancelled due to snow and the desire to get outside to see this momentary white world.

Nekisha is a friend and a talented artist. I fell in love with the characters in her mural as it was being painted and as I learned more about her design choices.

A road trip from Minnesota to Montana.

One year I set out to capture the stretch of time from when spring begins to arrive in Washington DC and, along with it, the anticipation of cherry blossoms to come and on through to the petals falling after peak bloom. A late spring snow with the Tidal Basin frozen over seemed an unseasonably cold but good day to begin recording the cherry blossom season.

A Flash blast from the past. A little music video I created awhile back while trying to learn some Flash & Illustrator; it’s a bit primitive but I had fun playing around with creating the story.
